How to Play Tongits Go by JILI

Setup

  • 52-card deck, no Jokers
  • 3 players per game
  • Each player gets 12 cards
  • The rest go into a community pile at the center

Game Flow

  1. A random player starts, and turns proceed counterclockwise
  2. On your turn, you can:
    • Draw from the community pile or from the last dumped card
    • Form Melds (three or more cards in sequence or sets)
    • Play Melds face-up or keep them hidden
    • Dump one card to end your turn
  3. If you don’t act within 20 seconds, the system auto-draws and auto-plays
  4. You can declare a Fight if your Meld hasn’t been used (Sapawed)
  5. Declare Tongits if all your cards are in Melds and you’ve dumped your last card
  6. If no more cards are left in the community pile, the game enters Showdown/Settlement
  7. Players who haven’t played any Melds = Burned and automatically lose

Key Features & Actions

✅ Chow

Draw the last dumped card if it forms a Meld with your hand.

✅ Meld

Lay down three or more cards in a valid sequence or set.

✅ Sapaw

Attach cards to existing Melds (yours or another player’s).

✅ Dump

Discard one card to the dump pile to end your turn.

Winning & Settlements

Three Victory Conditions:

  1. Tongits – Declare victory when your hand has 0 points after a dump.
  2. Fight – Challenge another player who hasn’t been Sapawed.
    • Opponent can Challenge, Fold, or if they’re Burned, they auto-lose.
  3. Showdown – When all cards are drawn, lowest hand points win.

Points & Payouts

  • Melded cards = 0 points
  • Remaining card values:
    • A = 1
    • 2–9 = face value
    • 10, J, Q, K = 10 points
